Hello;
I hve been wearing a landard to encourage discussion of this 30 day blog. I have only one person look at it. I think they were looking for my name. I mentioned was for a meet up group and blog. No discussion after...oh well
My Grandma also had a parrot named Loretta. This parrot had certain behaviors that were helpful. She would feel an earthquake a few minutes before it would happen. She would climb to the top of her cage, hang up side down and squak in a manner of distress.
Loretta could repeat certain words. She was near the kitchen phone so probably provided stimulation of words. She liked to say my Dad's name, Paul. She was able to say poor Paul. My dad worked in the cable industry and would get called out for outages and other issues, thus poor Paul:..
This is a black and white picture of Loretta. She was a medium green on wings and yellow. My grandma used to give Loretta a special treat of Lorne Dorne cookies. Loretta and I would share them and I still buy these cookies to this day.
When my grandma died she was living with my uncle. He gave Loretta away to a person unknow to Loretta and the rest of the family. My uncle did not like Loretta because she had once tried to bite him. She never tried to bite me. I was upset that my uncle gave her away. I would have happily accepted Loretta. I heard that she died fairly soon after. Loretta and parrots can live up to 100 years. She should still be alive today.

I am so sorry you lost Lortetta. Touching story.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know parrots lived that long! Yes, it would have been better if you got Loretta.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any feedback on the lanyard either. LOL
You're one step ahead of me in this challenge and I have not worn my lanyard out of the house yet. It took me a while to get to FedEx to print it out. Now, I have it, but I haven't left the house since going to FedEx this morning. Anyway, just wanted to say keep going! And let you know I will too.
ReplyDeleteI hope Loretta is with your Grandma!
